he showed his true colors with his attempt to defend Paterno, but this link has one of his classic stunts.
Brey stressed that his relationship with Krzyzewski is "Great. He's a great friend. But it's almost like, enough, man. We're in."
K's comments made at the official entry date didn't seem to serve any purpose. It is done and all K's comments did now was create tension and hard feelings.
I listened to Noie on Weekday Sportsbeat today. He said that Brey texted him and said, "Call me." It wasn't a reporter reaching out to Brey and asking for him to comment on Mike Krzyzewski's statement. It was Brey reaching out to the reporter and wanting to be heard on this.
Noie and the other guy from SBT did comment that if ND and Duke were playing their lone game at Cameron Indoor, maybe Brey would have tempered his comments more, but the fact that the one meeting this season is at the JACC, this could be Brey with a bit of gamesmanship, wanting to get interest up, early. Not that they were ever going to have a problem selling tickets for the Duke game, but tossing a bit of gasoline on the fire can't hurt, especially in a new league where you're trying to get some rivalries started.
Hopefully, Brey will turn it to ND's advantage. Given that Duke last visited ND in the mid-1990s, and given K's recent comments, I suspect the atmosphere for their next visit will be off the charts.
