I was lucky enough to have been there for years 4-7. In 40+ years I've followed program, other than Carr scoring 61 in NCAAs and then demolishing UCLA next season, most every meaningful program memory was under Digger.
Yes, the memories were almost exclusively from Nov-Feb, but they were some pretty GD memorable ones. It's not just '74 UCLA, it was '77 USF, '78 MU, '80 DP, and '81 UVa, too. An extended run as #1 in '79 wasn't all bad, either. Plus, ND BB was nationally relevant then in a way that it never really was before or since.
I know that Keogan had a remarkable record, but it was long before any of us were born, and BB was a 2d tier sport at best then. For better or (on occasion) for worse, Digger still casts a giant shadow over this program.
