...from the current roster. This is just my opinion, but it's based on his day-in day-out effort. His results weren't always excellent, but his hustle and toughness were never lacking. He was usually assigned to guard opponents' leading scorers; and he did a good job of it, often against bigger guys and/or better athletes. He was strong on the boards, and he didn't hesitate to plant an elbow to an opponent's gut when it was deserved.
I can't believe Pat was impressed with less effort from teammates, and I suspect that soft play in the lane bugged him when he saw it. He will be a junior next season. He might not have a lot of influence on the seniors, but he will have an opportunity to be a major influence on the freshmen and sophomores. Guys who are willing to stand on the mound and challenge hitters typically are not shrinking violets. I hope he asserts himself. I hope he demands from his teammates what he demands of himself.
I envision him being a lot like Rob Kurz... Vocal when necessary but not vocal like Tory Jackson was. Kurz would say something once. Then, if it was practice, he'd knock a slacker on his ass.
