Look, we all know Brey needs to find a way to replicate the kind of recruiting class he signed last November. ND has no hope of improving its NCAA performances without more athleticism and more talent. For that to happen, I think something new has to change things.
I can think of only two things that might change the status quo right away, short of ND taking Jucos or making big changes in its admissions policies.
1- A big announcement very soon that a donor has been found and a spanking new practice facility with all the bells and whistles will be a reality within a year or two, or
2- Swarbrick pushed Brey to shake up his staff. He gives Brey a big revenue injection and "orders" him to go out and hire an assistant coach known for his recruiting, maybe another one known for being a hard ass and a defensive teaching guro.
We all know what we have in Brey after 13 seasons. Nothing is going to change if the status quo continues. That's why I think the motto for the upcoming offseason ought to be, "no news is bad news."
