He is basically a mediocre coach in every possible way sans recruiting. He does make his kids go to class and graduate. That's a positive too, I suppose.
But this shouldn't be news to anyone who has watched him at Marquette or Indiana. His coaching is decidedly mediocre. Wouldn't have been nearly this good if he didn't have guys like Oladipo and Hulls who bust their own asses to get as much out of their ability as they can.
Crean looked as if he had never seen Syracuse's 2-3 zone before. I know the Big East has a really unbalanced schedule but Crean had to face it in live game action at least a couple times.
Syracuse was better in every way. As inconsistent as Carter-Williams has been this season, he looked like a top 5 pick tonight. Hopefully, Marquette will be ready to take them out.
