Now, they could face a 4 seed coached by Boeheim for a F4 bid. tOSU's last 2 games makes one wonder whether Meyer has gotten Matta in touch w/ his contacts in the netherworld. No one can rationally argue that the Syr-IU score thus far is indicative of the relative caliber on the 2 teams, and I refuse to believe that a FGCU team that often struggled in the Atlantic Sun is close to being one of the country's top 16 teams.
Yes, there's ample skill involved, and Boeheim's career March record does betray at least a rough logic. It's not an accident that the likes of Donovan, Williams, and K have won 2 or more NCs, nor is it an accident that 1 Applebee's patron won 3 NCs and the other made but 1 F4 appearance. Any tourney in any given year, however, will have more than its share of randomness.
