is a pretty good gauge of the caliber of the two teams.
If they were to play that game ten times, SU would win 6 or 7 (at least).
First, they are just a terrible match up for IU. Not many teams have the size that SU has on the perimeter, and IU is too much of a jump shooting team to effectively counter it. If your guards are as small as Ferrell and Hulls are, they must be lightning quick to be able to create offense against SU...Ferrell, Hulls, Abell, et al aren't fast enough to put pressure on SU. Oladipo is, but IU never effectively utilized him in space.
Second, their records aren't all that different. The reason IU is a 1 and SU is a 4 is the perception of the two teams was different all year. IU has a few more big wins, but their losses in both quantity and quality were about the same.
SU was a bit under seeded as a 4 (they probably should have had Marquette's 3).
So fun to watch. It has been so long.
