Juventus' streak was helped by the fact that it didn't play in European competition last season, because of the domestic futility of years past, meaning it avoided all that travel, fatigue and injuries. But that, and the fact that Serie A isn't the powerhouse league it once was, are just about Juventus's only advantages.
Other than that...
I'd also add that in Italy, Juve is still considered to have the refs in their pocket, having been the benefit of more than a few questionable decisions over the past two seasons. But, any way you look at it, it's impressive.
However, I feel Milan's run of 58 from '91-'93 is more impressive because of how much they were a regular factor deep in the Champions League then. They were widely considered the best team in the world then, nevermind just on the peninsula.
