MLS is going on 2 week hiatus for the Gold Cup. I noticed something interesting as I sorted the standings by Points Per Game and looked at how many playing appearances the coach had at top flight clubs. The guys with zero spent their entire playing careers in the United States or Canada. Caleb Porter has essentially no playing career at all. I rounded some of the numbers for guys who played for a lot of different club.

Interesting but maybe unsurprising. That said, Caleb Porter

has an MLS Cup to his credit, though he's clearly the exception to the "rule".
