They figured out how to win at the end without Mane. For a while there, it looked impossible.
Really, Rodgers is a poor man's version of Klopp.
Rodgers like to play an open-style, pressing kind of game similar to Klopp. They both have similar weaknesses with defending and set pieces. But Klopp communicates much more effectively with his players and engages with the fans and media better.
Ultimately Klopp didn't what Rodgers couldn't do. Albeit at the 11th hour. He came up with a system that countered teams that were willing to park the bus. Rodgers never had a plan B. Ironically, Klopp went to the 4-4-2 Diamond that Rodgers never seemed willing to do, despite Balotelli needing a striking partner. Of course Klopp didn't do that for him either.
while we're up 1-0 last year, 2008/09 charge in the 2nd half of the season that wasn't enough to overtake United, every fucking thing about the Roy Hodgson era, 2012 FA Cup Final, 2016 League Cup Final.
On the other hand, my interest in the team started while I was bartending after college in 2005 when 5 drunk Englishmen walked in to my afternoon shift to watch the CL Final some random afternoon. So it hasn't all been bad beats and tough losses.
Left his feet, zero chance of ball contact, high speed. Easily a red card.
Now he's out of the FA cup as well. Dumbass.
But yeah, that challenge in that position considering the circumstances? Not the brightest bulb.
outside of that one extra time sequence. Attack has been indecisive in the final third and the defense has looked shaky on the counter.
I think we need at least one more goal.
They've just been anxious around the box. I suspect that now that the pressure is off, they'll win going away.
Middleborough would need a strike off of a set piece or a penalty to score. Their strikers aren't good enough to beat LIverpool on their own.
Of course, theres Mignolet, too.
No matter, though, this is playing out exactly like I thought it would after they got the first one.
Pressure came off of Liverpool and Middlesbrough was left with little to play for.
Everton conceding a goal up a man. Europa league is the new cool thing.
It was certainly embellished, but I bet a penalty is given there 7 or 8 out of 10 times.
He stopped going for the ball and initiated contact looking for the whistle. Excellent no call.
He still had position and one could argue that he wanted to shield the defender from the ball. He wasn't given a chance to get back to the ball because the defender took him down.
That being said, I agree that he lacked intent once he went clear.
He cut in front of the defender and slowed down. But I'm not sure that changes the fact that the defender obliged and ran him over. Of course, nothing changes the fact that Martin Atkinson is a self-important douchebag.
And there's the goal for Liverpool just before half. Looks like it's Europa for Arsenal. I wonder if that's it for Wenger.
That being said, Liverpool have plenty of time to ass it up.
But he also ran him down inside the box. Like I said, I think it's probably given 8 out of 10.
I can't completely argue with the non-call given the lack of intent from the striker.
