Trena was the first African-American player to star at ND. She was a tall wing who scored over 1500 points while shooting 49% in the final years before the three point shot arrived. She was a two-time POY in the North Star Conference. She was the best of the pre-Muffet players.

Karen was a flashy point guard from Jersey who was a fan favorite. She scored 30 points in her final game to pass Trena by one point for what was the ND career record at the time and played during the first four years of the three pointer, though she didn't take many of them. She was a two-time POY in the MCC
