I would have to go back and rewatch the game as well as the National semifinals but I am starting to wonder if Geno used the BE Final as an experimental game for the NCAA Tournament in case he faced ND and Baylor again.
Most of the season he used 3 guards (Hartley, Faris, KML) and two posts (Dolson & Stewart), and yes Stewart is a combo but she played as a forward.
Then in the BE Championship he tried a big lineup with Stokes, Dolson, Stewart and a combo of the guard. this had limited success partially because we countered with 4 guards and I don't think he wanted to tip his hand.
At some point during the NCAA run he also realized that Tuck at 6'3 was more athletic in the big line up so he made the switch. This allowed him to counter a 4 guard line up and he wouldn't have to shift Faris or Hartley/Jefferson off of Skylar and KMac.
When Geno went big it helped key the huge run at the end of the half.
Our poor shooting and missed lay ups didn't help but i think Geno knew after the BET that if he made this adjustment the next time he played ND, he'd come out ahead.
