He consistently stated in the pre-season that the offense was going to have to score a lot of points and that a wide-open attack was the way to do that. I was willing to wait and see how that worked out. If Golson had developed into an elite QB - which appeared possible early in the season - this might have worked. But instead, in the last five games, Golson became a shell of himself. In the first half of the season, with a healthy defense, we were able to overcome the offensive inconsistency. But when the defense started to crumble due to injuries, better opponents, and offensive turnovers, Kelly's strategy didn't yield dividends, but proved to be a disastrous choice.
