his ‘luck’ would be in catching lightning in a bottle next season and go 10-2 or 11-1 and then this season would be dismissed as an anomaly and the skeptics and critics would be dismissed for not keeping the faith. Swarbrick would reiterate his support for Kelly and continue with Brian’s wish list for the program. Then, if in the following season we have a reprise of this season, we will revisit this whole Greek tragedy again. So the question is how is the progress of this program determined. What benchmarks have been set for Kelly and did Kelly and Swarbrick alone determine those? Who does Swarbrick seek counsel from in these matters? I would like to think that the head of the athletic department of a major university has a cadre of football knowledgeable persons that he can solicit input from when determining whether this program needs a change.
