I read this a while ago and I may not be clear on all the details) that there was no need for urgency on either side and that this time table is consistent with those used for Brey and McGraw. His tone indicated that discussions have been amicable, but of course that is not proof positive.
Something to consider about the successes of the past season... It has long been assumed that Swabrick's and Kelly's fates are inextricably linked. I think that with last year on his AD resume as well as how he's handled a number of non-performance issues (conference realignment, Kelly-to-NFL, etc.) and ND's other teams, Swarbrick would have the juice to stand alone if need be. My sense of the situation - and I have no inside info, it's just the feeling I get as an observer - is that in an odd way Kelly's 2012 success cemented Swarbrick as the alpha dog, not the co-alpha.
