Does this mean that Kelly and his staff got the absolute most that was possible out of their starters during the regular season (national championship game excluded)?
Most of Kelly’s recorded locker room speeches aimed at convincing his players that they were winners, no matter how the game went. I thought he did a great job of convincing the team to think of themselves as champions, even as their performance on the field faltered. Reforming the players’ self perception (self esteem?) was, in my mind, Kelly’s greatest contribution during his first three years.
I await the fourth year. The fourth year has always been my benchmark for Kelly.
