2012 was a lot of fun. But mixed in with the good results were a lot of fortunate bounces. We weren't consistent on offense. We didn't dominate the weaker teams the way championship-level teams are supposed to. And 42-14 speaks for itself.

We've certainly improved as a program the last couple years, no doubt about it. But more improvement is necessary if we're going to win national championships. Continued high-quality recruiting classes will help get us there, as will a continued focus on making sure the players are as physically and mentally prepared as possible.

The journey has begun. It is not over, not by a long shot. And I, for one, will continue to point out situations where I think we're being helped along and situations where I think we're being hindered. My desire is to see us at the destination, and as soon as possible.
