This win did not erase the mistakes made by Kelly in the Northwestern game, his inability to develop competent special teams in 5 years (which could have lost us the game yesterday), the complete embarrassment of a team which took the field against Southern Cal, and his stubborn refusal to develop a good, reliable running game and actually use it to win games.
I sat through the Northwestern game in the freezing cold, and he died to me in that game. He has not demonstrated the intellectual capacity to make sound decisions during the course of a season or the course of a game. I have no reason to believe he will change.
When Brian Kelly leaves, we will have a chance to get a competent football coach, who does not single-handedly lose at least two games a year because of his incompetence. I wish him God speed to the NFL.
