It's just a fact. Their default start time for home games is at night. They only play day games at home for television. And of course, that typically means tougher opponents and a lower WP. But even taking that into account, the disparity in stats for LSU between day/night was striking the last time I saw the stat, which admittedly was long ago. It used to be common to see similar splits between turf/grass games and indoor/outdoor games for certain teams.
It's also notable that ND has gone to Baton Rouge 4 times, all for nationally televised games. ND won both games that were afternoon starts (1984, 1997) and lost both at night (1971, 1986).
