Most universities don't really care about football players' education. Because so much money is at stake, the student-athlete's main priority is to play football. They don't get the same opportunity to get a degree because football is their full time job. For most, their educational goal is to stay eligible (because I'm going to the NFL!).
I'd like to see the NCAA allow student-athlete's to take 0 to part time hours during the season (maybe only taking electives). Also, as part of their initial scholarship agreement, universities should allow those who exhaust their eligibility to come back on extended scholarship for 4-5 years to graduate with a meaningful degree.
