His WP is now .688, below that of any other ND coach to stay beyond 5 years. He's also below .700 in his Division I career.
While 2012 appears to be an aberration for Kelly at ND, it's beside the point. Even when that season, and his 2009 season at Cincinnati, are given full account, they don't offset the other seasons that prove Kelly is mediocre, and don't provide sufficient hope that he'll move beyond that.
Mediocre is better than bad, which is what Kelly's three predecessors were. But it's still not good enough.
