ND doesn't have to do it - in fact it would be consistent

with what they do now. There is no reason that ND would have to go to a five-year guaranteed scholarship.

ND could say: players have four-years guaranteed, the player must stay on track to graduate during that time. If you and the coach mutually decide that a fifth year is in the interest of both parties - and the player has a graduate program to pursue - you get your fifth year.
