He was, of course, very political about the team and Kelly, but did say Kelly needs to run the ball more and let the lineman play physical. Also questioned Kelly's decisions to go for it on 4th down 4 times v. FSU. He would have punted (not sure I agree with him there). He was his usual engaging, funny self. The group was small, less than 50 people. Got a picture with him, and just asked him to send Kelly a 4 word email: "Run the damn ball."
What strikes me most about Holtz is that his success seems to have much less to do with X's and O's (he's not a technical wonk like a Belicheck), and much more to do with fundamentals and leadership. That's the part of the game Kelly doesn't get. You can be the smartest guy in the room, and still get your ass kicked on a regular basis if the players either can't execute what you are calling, or simply aren't 100% committed to what you are selling.
