This kid was committed to OSU since June. Urbie took him aside before NSD and told him not to sign his LOI until the end of the day - until Urbie knew how many of the important recruits he was going to get. Guys like Vonn Bell and James Clark were on the bubble. If they did not come to Columbus, the punter could sign and submit the LOI.
Urbie did not want to criticized for Oversigning. More importantly, the B1G now has a 3 person limit on Oversigning. Combine that with OSU having only 82 scholarships for a couple years due to cheating and you see how Urbie was playing this. He is the master at this crap.
