0 5*, 15 4*, 17 3*. This is what skews these rankings

So much for the over-signing reformation in the SEC.

It's not oversigning in this case.

Georgia played with fewer than 70 scholarship players last year - this class will bring them back to 85. This is similar to Weis' 28-man class in 2006, which brought the team much closer to a full complement after Willingham's disastrous roster management.

Alabama signed 26 and will have to cut players (something like 12 or 13) in order to get back to 85. THAT is oversigning.

And yet they gave Alabama a scare in the SEC champ

game while we looked like HS. Maybe there are some lessons in SEC football our coaches and team need to learn.

Maybe there shouldn't be a 45 day lay off prior to the NC

game.

Alabama will certainly cut players, but

some of the ones they signed won't qualify academically. Many of the SEC schools sign first and admit later.

How are they going to manage the extra 7 guys?

I know we signed 28 under Weis, but he did early enrollment on the extra guys to keep us at 25 that counted against the 2006 class, while it maxed out our 25 for the 2005 class. Did Georgia sign (or keep) only 18 guys in their 2012 class? If not, then they have to cut/greyshirt some guys to get back within the rules, and that would still be oversigning.

Out of 19 letters of intent only 14 ended up on campus.

So Georgia definitely has room to backfill (and they're bringing in a ton of early enrollees.) They played with 68 scholarship players last season.

Then they're doing it right.

I have no problem with signing 32 guys as long as it's done in a manner such as this. They are not oversigning, they are reloading (and using early enrollment in order to expidite the process). As long as the early enrollees know that this will preclude them from 5th year eligibility, there's nothing wrong with what they're doing in my book. Now, Bama on the other hand...

I don't think it precludes them from 5th year eligibility

Chris Stewart enrolled early and stayed for a 5th year. I think it might preclude them from being on scholarship the Spring after their 5th Fall, but that's meaningless to most guys.

And only one of the top 12 players in Georgia. *

Rodney Garner is a big loss for UGA.

I take it you live in the Atlanta area.

I've lived here 6 years and can only assume that many of these kids or their parents are not from the area. Due to the high number of transients, I think GA, esp. Atlanta is an interesting area where ND should focus a bit more. Just in my neighborhood, there are alums from various schools and only a few are UGA folks.

Actually Gainesville which is fanatically UGA although the

best player in town, DeShaun Watson, is currently verballed to Clemson. That's why I'm surprised they did so poorly but Atlanta proper and the rest of the state may be different.
