have been forced by the legislatures in their states. FSU-UF was inspired by law I believe. My favorite is that Alabama and Auburn didn't play between 1907 and 1948. Mind you, they had been in the same fricking conference (SIAA, Southern Conference, and finally SEC) for the 41 years they didn't play each other. But it still took threats from the legislature (post-war Alabama didn't have many other problems apparently) to get them to play.
