Why can't ND go after a top notch alumni from professional baseball instead of another college retread? Saw Chris Michalak a few years ago coaching with the Washington Nationals, and he has worked with all of their top pitching prospects over the past few years.

He was a great pitcher for 4 really solid ND teams back in the day, and he pitched in the big leagues! He had a great career with ND and was actually the first ND pitcher to have 20+ wins and 10+ saves in a career, and is the all time leader in shutouts! Plus he is a midwestern guy. A hire like that would give ND back some credibility that it is lacking! He'd be a great hire, and could restore some pride back into the program.

Should serve us right for hiring a BC hack by the way. ND should never be taking scraps from a clown show like Boston College. Time for a change, and time for an alumni to right the ship of this fledgeling program.

Here is a great article on Michalak...

He is from the Murphy coaching tree. I would take him in a heartbeat.
