Avoid the GE water heaters sold by HD. They suck.
Sears is OK, rheem is good. I was quoted $1200 for a new rheem installed...which is why I am installing my own tankless.
Also, if you do it yourself, review the combustion air requirements and where that is coming from - especially if you have put in a new heater since that wh went in, and make sure all the important things are included in the job that might not already be there - pan piped to drain, auto shutoff if it is in a finished basement or on a higher floor, etc.
