How long do you take to deposit a check?

My landlord has us write her a check on the first of the month for rent/utilities. She routinely doesn't deposit it until the 20th or later in the month. Do people usually keep checks that long?

I've tried dropping hints by asking her if she received our check a few times around the 8th or 9th of the month, but it doesn't register. Would I be wrong to ask that she deposit them in a more timely manner?
