Will this grow on me or grow on me like a fungus?

I bought my wife a windows 8 laptop, and am currently wondering what the hell they were smoking in Redmond - easy tasks like printing a web page are no longer intuitive, websites don't recognize explorer on it, chrome doesn't seem to want to install and I can't figure out why, etc. Does workflow totally suck vs prior windows or have I not learned the new and better ways of doing things? What is the consensus of the IT gurus here?

Sincerely,
Andy Rooney, evidently

After a bit of a transition period, I like it.

I loaded "Windows Classic Shell" so it could be usable (e.g. familiar Start button and desktop) while I figured all the new stuff out.
