The Panasonic GH2, hereon Amazon is reportedly a very good video camera as well. That price might put you out of getting 2 for $1,000 (for that, I'd consider more advanced point and shoot cameras, I guess, maybe the Sony HX30V linked hynere). Check DPReview.com for their thoughts, although note that they've only reviewed the Sony HX30 predecessor, the HX20.
Could you upgrade to Final Cut Pro for video editing? Isn't that the standard Apple editing product?
