ND's commencement typically is between May 15-21. It was on May 22 in 2011, so that finals would not be the week after Easter (which was April 24 that year). Presumably, it will be on May 16 in 2021.

The NCAA LAX quarterfinals are on the weekend before Memorial Day, meaning they may occur as early as May 16-17 or as late as May 22-23.

That means ND can host the quarterfinals at ND Stadium in a year when commencement is early (May 15 or 16) and when the quarterfinals are late (May 21-23). 2021 and 2022 are the next such opportunities.

EDIT: Hofstra will host quarterfinals in each of the next 6 seasons, from 2017 through 2022. Other quarterfinal sites (2019-2022 announced today):

2017 -- Delaware
2018 -- Navy
2019 -- East Hartford, CT (Rentschler Field, home of UConn football; Fairfield will be host school)
2020 -- Brown
2021 -- ND
2022 -- Ohio State (Ohio Stadium)

The 2017 and 2018 championships previously were awarded to Foxboro. The 2019 and 2020 championship weekends will be at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field, and 2021 and 2022 will be at Rentschler Field in East Hartford -- the first times the championships won't be at an NFL stadium since 2001 at Rutgers (no current NFL stadium ever had hosted up to that time, although the 1973 and 1992 championships were at Penn's Franklin Field, former home of the Eagles).
