Many replays showed the shot off the goal frame hit the ground about 8 inches over the line (black sprayed up where it hit the turf) before bounding out of the goal without hitting the net. Several ND players celebrated but apparently the referees were oblivious. And in the ensuing unsettled play, USC scored for a 2 goal swing (would have been a face-off after the goal instead of a fast break)
